Habituszegna is a long term project implemented by Fondazione Zegna and Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto in collaboration with Margarita Vazquez Ponte and Matteo Ferrario. It is housed within the Casa Zegna complex, site of the original and still functioning Ermenegildo Zegna wool mill, in Trivero, Italy. Habituszegna is a site specific platform of communication, learning and deeper understanding of the common values of a responsible transformation of society, shared by Cittadellarte Fondazione Pistoletto and the Zegna Group. It is a space where Art and Enterprise converge in a dialogue that is the result of a long-term relationship of project collaboration and opens up the possibility to broadcast diverse research directions and transmit common messages.
Alongside the habituszegna space, we also designed the furniture for the reception and a multi-purpose cafeteria capable of hosting exhibitions and workshops for children and adults.

construction and installations

the artisans…
All the objects within the habituszegna installation were constructed with the help of an army of Piedmont artisans. The piedmont artisans are a dying breed, we searched high and low (literally) to find the right person with the right skills for each object, and we found many highly skilled artisans, unfortunately most of them were quite elderly and very few had apprentices to carry on the work and skills for the future. All the artisans were extremely open to our ideas and enjoyed this collaboration between artist and craftsman, as did we. The installation is as much a showcase of the talent and skill of these men and women as it is about anything else.
