…obviously there are probably a million species of fruit and vegetables that i have never seen or heard of…today i learned a new one.
Felicità is a local producer here in Biella who comes to the courtyard in Cittadellarte once a week with whatever is in season on her land to sell to all of us who work here. Today she brought some Arguta. It’s like a small kiwi, it’s very sweet and you eat it whole without peeling, it’s also known as hardy kiwifruit, kiwi berry, baby kiwi, dessert kiwi or cocktail kiwi and grows in a vine like the regular kiwi. Its very hardy and can withstand gradual drops to cold temperatures (for those of you thinking of growing it)…and it tastes really good…
It doesn’t look very delicious, but looks can be deceiving.
i know!!! they don’t look promising at all but really they are very nice. Very delicate though, apparently they need to be consumed within 2 days of harvest which i guess makes them very hard to sell.
