Funny but of late there seems to have been a bit of a trend for gigs and accompanying art exhibitions round these parts, only the other week i saw Patti Smith play live at Bovisio in Milan, while the ticket also got you into the exhibition It’s Not Only Rock ‘n’ Roll, Baby!
…as you can see from the exterior, it’s basically a show of musicians dabbling in ART…it included Pete(r) Doherty drawings using his own blood…so it must be art…hmmmm. Musically speaking Patti Smith was well, Patti Smith…you can’t complain about that, and age has not withered Patti, she is still rather fabulous…
Fast forward a week or 2 and i find myself near Turin at the Castello di Rivoli Contemporary art museum, this time to see Blixa Bargeld & Alva Noto play a set and again the ticket also gives you the price of gallery entry to a group show (EXHIBITION EXHIBITION) inside the gallery. Regardless of what’s on show, I love the idea of going to see art at midnight, it seems like a good use of time. In fact the art was so so, but Blixa…wow…unlike Patti age has withered Blixa, but he was compelling, part Golam, part weird old drunk professor…falsetto screams…Teutonic rants, electronica…white noise…what’s not to like??? I made a wee stop motion film…see below
