under cherry blossom…

Interrupting Milan Salone posts because Edinburgh’s cherry blossom is in full bloom and it’s perfect…i particularly love it at night

…and during the day, strange people gather around it…because they are in red and we are nearish the 1st of May am guessing they are practising for the Beltane…otherwise they are just  crazy people…

and people play sport in between it…

guerilla drummer…

Meanwhile, in Edinburgh…

love this…a busker in the meadows on my usual path into town…what made it for me was the somewhat lack lustre playing – i know he is wearing a gorilla suit but still…maybe he (or she who knows…) was just limbering up…

Looking at the photos now the whole thing looks almost photo-shopped, but it really did happen, honest…maybe he/she’s an art student?…

…and speaking of art students…some of them were installing things in the meadows. I love these paper birds among the trees (yes i know it’s been done before) and i love the way the meadows is well and truly used as a public space by the folks of Edinburgh…

boy in the bubble…

…So when i was a child i remember a proliferation of “boy on the bubble” real life stories. People born with no immune systems who had to live in hermetically sealed “bubble” environments within the home or in hospital. I even remember TV movies on the subject like a very young John Travolta in Boy in the Plastic Bubble. You never see these kind of stories any more, occasionally i have wondered what happened to people with this condition, i got my answer on an evening stroll home through the meadows when a funfair came to visit…

twilights…

No, not the teeny romantic vampire gubbins, but the beginning of the long days and evenings that lead to summer, right now twilight happens around 9pm…

Not really my cup of tea cricket (in the edinburgh meadows) but i happened upon it walking home and the colours were really popping with the fading light…

Rabbits by the woods near blackford pond just after dusk. This was a 40 second exposure…now i just need to train the rabbits to stay still…

frogs in love…

Came across this froggy display of love in the hermitage while looking for more of the wild garlic mentioned in the previous post

and this rather rad broken down butterfly, literally on its last legs again among the garlic…

…and here is edinburgh by night at the moment
