burning down the house…

I found this in a courtyard in Milan’s Università Statale. The work is called Ablaze – Sentimento (S)travolgente by Ingo Maurer with Axel Schmid

For an exterior shot you have to make do with my drawing as i was so hypnotised by that bloody pendulum inside (see film below) that i forgot to take exterior shots!. Apparently its a metaphor for a burning house just a the point of collapse…If you look closely at the reflections in the film, you can see the courtyard designed by renaissance-architect-genius (phew!) Bramante…

no tampering with colour in editing, you see it as it was…

other red things…

Spritz!

salone di milano 2011

“Nice Ball’ by Paola Pivi (bloody terrible title!)

Lots of posts to follow about the Salone, a city-wide furniture and design fair held in Milan every year. Could not go last year because of a certain pesky volcano in Iceland…Reminds me a bit of Edinburgh during the festival when suddenly you get to peek inside every nook and cranny of the city that is otherwise closed to you. Best thing about the Salone though is it’s all free (if you avoid the vast but tedious “official” Salone in the city outskirts of Rho)

Some things i saw:

chairs…
