Devils are useful things, you hang them outside your house, or in this case, orchard and they suck up all the bad luck before it gets to you and your stuff…

…and this magnificent object was a rickshaw parked a little way off the guava field, i loved the mixture of hand painting and photographs…who are they? i have no idea…i think politicians maybe as they are in mostly in white…and the woman could maybe be Indira Gandhi?

more…plus herbal superstition

All this vivid greenery that comes with the rain makes me think about a programme I watched recently about Gaelic food traditions in Stornoway (the western isles). They used to use wild thyme gathered on the moors to ward off witchcraft by tying it to cattle’s tails (mint was also used in the same way). It was also said to have healing properties and was tied to a child’s cradle to ward off the evil eye…good to know…
